Ann Collins Biography

Biography Ann Collins, Western Illinois University professor emeritus, maintains a busy schedule as an instructor of jazz piano clinics for clasically-trained piano teachers. She has appeared at MENC and MTNA National Conferences, the International Association for Jazz Education, the National Group Piano Symposium, the National Piano Pedagogy Conference, and the International Association for Jazz Education; has served as IAJE Teacher - Training Institute faculty; and has been featured clinician on numerous state convention programs and university seminars.

Ann is the author of the "Sing and Play" preschool piano series (Stipes) and "Lead Lines and Chord Changes" (Alfred). Her most recent publication "Jazz Works," (Alfred) is designed to help bridge the gap between traditional piano study and jazz instruction. Her jazz trio recordings "6:05 Central Standard Time" and "Re:Romance" are available through www.CDbaby.com, www.AnnCollinsJazz.com or ACollinsJz@aol.com. Ann was a co-author of the MTNA/IAJE "Jazz Studies Guide" and she serves as a member of the current IAJE Resource Team representing independent studio teachers.
